Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, rescued six people during an attempted kidnapping in Zamfara State and neutralised a suspected terrorist in a separate operation in Sokoto State.
The operations were carried out on September 26, 2026, as troops of Sector 2 responded to intelligence-led missions in Gudu Local Government Area of Sokoto and Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara.
In Sokoto, troops moved against a suspected terrorist camp in Gudu following credible intelligence on its location.
The military said troops encountered an isolated terrorist during the operation and neutralised him.
An AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a foreign military uniform and various tools and clothing were recovered from the location, according to the Joint Task Force.
In Zamfara, troops responded to information about an attempted abduction involving members of the Sarkin Samari’s family in Tsafe Local Government Area.
The troops arrived at the scene and engaged the suspected terrorists, forcing them to withdraw into nearby bushes.
Six kidnap victims were subsequently rescued and taken to a safe location pending their reunification with their families.
The Media Information Officer of JTF North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed the operations in a statement on Sunday.
He said the operations reflected the determination of the task force to protect lives and property across the North-West.
The task force urged residents to continue providing troops with credible and timely information on the activities of terrorists and other criminal elements in their communities.
