The Comprehensive High School, Ilutitun Old Students’ Association has announced plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Comprehensive High School, Ilutitun, Ondo State, with a week-long programme highlighting the institution’s contributions to education, leadership and community development.
The Golden Jubilee celebration, scheduled for September 28 to October 4, 2026, will bring together old students, current students, teachers, parents, traditional institutions, government representatives, community leaders and friends of the school to commemorate five decades of academic excellence and character formation.
The association said the anniversary would also provide an opportunity to reconnect generations of old students, honour deserving stakeholders and contribute to the continued development of the institution.
According to the Golden Jubilee Publicity Committee, the programme will feature a series of educational, sporting, environmental, health and community-oriented activities.
Among the activities lined up are an environmental sanitation exercise, tagged “Operation Let the Forest Fall”; a football match; tree and flower planting; a health talk; the CHS @ 50 Lecture; and artificial intelligence and digital training for teachers.
The programme will also feature an inter-school Quiz and Debate Competition, the “Let’s See Ilutitun Again” Rally, as well as the CHS Novelty Match, themed “The Old versus The New.”
The week-long celebration will culminate in the Golden Jubilee Anniversary Celebration, the dedication of the newly built and fully furnished Legacy School Gate and the CHSIOSA Corper’s Lodge.
Other activities include an awards ceremony, fundraising and luncheon, followed by the Golden Jubilee Dinner and Networking.
The celebration will end with a Thanksgiving Service on October 4 at the Cathedral of Ebenezer, Diocese on the Coast, Ilutitun-Osooro.
Speaking on the significance of the anniversary, Chairman of the Golden Jubilee Publicity Committee, Comrade Akinsuyi, said the celebration was an opportunity to reflect on the school’s heritage, memories and achievements while renewing the commitment of stakeholders to its future.
Akinsuyi, who corroborated the position of the President of the alumni association, High Chief Olusegun Netufo, said the 50th anniversary represented more than a milestone.
“50 years is not merely a milestone; it is a testimony to the enduring value of education and the collective efforts of generations of teachers, students, parents, old students and other stakeholders who have contributed to the growth of Comprehensive High School, Ilutitun,” she said.
Also speaking, Chairman and Co-Chairman of the anniversary fundraising and planning committee, Rev. Dr Sunday Akingbelure and Dr Olorunyomi Akinboyo, respectively, appealed to members of the association and members of the public to support the development of the school.
They urged old students to give substantially towards the institution, describing such support as an opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of the school that provided them with their educational foundation.
The publicity committee called on old students, current students, staff, parents, traditional institutions, government representatives, community leaders, friends of the school and residents of Ilutitun to participate actively in the historic celebration.
It said the anniversary provided an opportunity for stakeholders to reconnect with their roots and collectively contribute to building a stronger future for the institution.
Quoting a Yoruba saying that “one tree cannot make a forest,” the association urged stakeholders to unite in supporting the school as it enters its next chapter.
The association said the Golden Jubilee was not only about looking back at five decades of learning, leadership and memories, but also about inspiring a new generation and strengthening the institution for the future.
“Comprehensive High School, Ilutitun @ 50! Celebrating the Past, Inspiring the Future. Only the best for us,” the association said.
