The Anambra State Police Command has recorded further personnel advancement with the decoration of nine newly promoted officers, signalling a morale boost within the Command at the start of 2026.
The decoration ceremony was performed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, on Friday, during the First Commissioner of Police Conference for Strategic Officers held at the Police Command Headquarters, Awka.
According to the Command, the promotions followed the approval and release of results by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Police Service Commission (PSC).
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the CP commended officers and men of the Command for their professionalism during the 2025 yuletide security operations.
“The Commissioner of Police charged officers to be proactive, responsive and courageous, while working strictly in line with the Nigeria Police Act and shunning all forms of corruption,” Ikenga stated.
CP Orutugu congratulated the promoted officers, noting that their elevation reflects dedication, discipline and exemplary service.
He stressed that promotion comes with increased responsibility, accountability and the need for strong leadership.
Those promoted include SP Adedeji Anietie, SP Andrew Gabriel, SP Emmanuel Nnaemeka, SP Adeyemi Lateef, and five others elevated to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).
The CP also reiterated the IGP’s directive on the withdrawal of police personnel attached to VIPs and the suspension of enforcement on tinted glass vehicles until further notice.
Speaking on behalf of the promoted officers, CSP Andrew Gabriel expressed gratitude to the IGP, PSC and the Anambra State Police Command.
“We pledge renewed commitment to discipline, professionalism and service to the people,” he said.
Ikenga noted that the event reflected high morale and renewed operational focus within the Command as it enters 2026.
