Troops Rescue Six Abductees, Arrest Suspected Boko Haram Collaborators in Borno, Yobe

Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have rescued six abducted women and children and arrested suspected terrorist collaborators during separate operations in Borno and Yobe states.
The operations were carried out under the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Media Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Sani Uba.

The military said troops, acting on credible intelligence following an air interdiction mission around the Mandara Mountains, rescued the victims near Amuda on May 12.
According to the statement, the victims were abducted during a Boko Haram/ISWAP attack on Ngoshe community in March 2026.

Those rescued were identified as Aisha Musa, Aisha Mohammed, Fatima Yahaya, Saudatu Musa, Garba Mohammed and Mohammed Yahaya.
The military stated that the victims received medical attention before being reunited with their families through the community leader of Ngoshe, Mallam Adamu Gunda.
In a separate operation, troops deployed at Tango 7 in Konduga Local Government Area arrested one Hauwa Bulama, aged 40, suspected to be linked to terrorist elements.
Recovered items included detergent, washing soap, a torchlight and seasoning cubes.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect was allegedly travelling to Gezuwa to meet four of her children believed to be members of the terrorist group.
The military also disclosed that troops under Sector 2, supported by Military Intelligence personnel, arrested two suspects identified as Bakura, 18, and Adiza, 17, in Damaturu, Yobe State.

According to the military, the arrests were linked to an earlier operation involving the interception of a suspected ammunition courier identified as Ba’akaka Abubakar, alias Modogol.
Investigators reportedly discovered that Adiza had been assigned to collect ammunition from the suspect for delivery to a terrorist commander.

The military said the suspects were currently in custody while efforts continued to arrest other members of the network and recover the ammunition.
The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace across the North-East.
It also commended troops for their professionalism and resilience in ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
