‎The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) says troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) arrested 35 terrorist suspects and criminal collaborators, rescued 11 kidnap victims and escapees, neutralised five terrorists and received four surrenderees during nationwide operations conducted between May 28 and June 4, 2026.

‎Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, disclosed this on Friday while briefing journalists on ongoing military operations across the country.

‎According to him, the troops recorded the successes during coordinated operations against terrorists, kidnappers, gunrunners, economic saboteurs and other criminal elements across various theatres.

‎”Within the period under review, troops arrested 35 suspects, rescued 11 victims, neutralised five terrorists and recorded the surrender of four persons from terrorist enclaves. Several arms, ammunition, explosives and other operational items were also recovered,” Onoja said.

‎Giving a breakdown of the operations, he said troops of Operation Hadin Kai arrested terrorist collaborators and informants across Borno, Yobe, Adamawa and Bauchi states, while four persons escaped from terrorist camps and surrendered to troops.

‎He added that troops neutralised terrorists during separate operations in Borno, Katsina, Zamfara and Kogi states, while also recovering weapons and ammunition.

‎The military spokesman further disclosed that troops rescued five kidnapped passengers in Kaduna State, recovered escaped kidnap victims in Nasarawa State and rescued additional victims during operations in Kogi State.

‎Onoja said the Armed Forces would sustain ongoing operations nationwide in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure the rescue of citizens in captivity and the dismantling of criminal networks.

‎He also conveyed the commendation of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, to troops for their resilience, professionalism and dedication in ongoing operations across the country.
