PSC Promotes Seven AIGs To DIGs, Charges Them On Professionalism
The Police Service Commission has promoted seven Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to the rank of Deputy Inspectors-General in a move aimed at strengthening the leadership structure of the Nigeria Police Force.
A statement made available to newsmen by the Head, Protocol and Public Affairs, PSC Headquarters, Abuja, Torty Njoku Kalu confirmed that the promotions followed a merit-based process involving written examinations and oral interviews conducted at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.

Kalu revealed that those elevated include Zachariah Fera Achinyan, Zango Ibrahim Baba, Isyaku Mohammed, Margaret Agebe Ochalla, Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie and Umar Shehu Nadada.
According to him, the promotions were determined based on merit, seniority, record of service and performance in the selection exercise.
“The promotions, which are a result of merit, seniority, record of service and performance in a written examination and oral interview conducted today at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, are part of efforts to strengthen the leadership cadre of the Nigeria Police Force,” he stated.
The Commission also noted that the development follows the recent elevation of Fayoade Adegoke to the substantive rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police.

With the promotion, Adegoke will now join the Force Management Team of the Nigeria Police Force.
The latest appointments became necessary to fill vacancies created by the retirement of eight Deputy Inspectors-General who previously occupied key strategic positions in the Force.
Chairman of the Commission, Hashimu Salihu Argungu, congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to uphold professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
He charged them to prioritise national security and maintain a productive relationship with the Commission to ensure continuous reforms and institutional development within the Nigeria Police Force.

Some members of the PSC Board who participated as examiners during the exercise include Paul Adamu Galumje, Taiwo Lakanu and Onyemuche Nnamani.
