OSSAP-CCM and Africa Green Future Forum Sign MoU on Climate Action, Green Economy and Green Mobility
Landmark partnership formally endorses the Africa Green Walk and positions it as a flagship national and continental climate mobilization campaign
ABUJA, NIGERIA — 23rd July 2026 — The Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Climate Change Matters (OSSAP-CCM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Africa Green Future Forum (AGFF) Secretariat, establishing a strategic partnership to advance climate action, environmental sustainability, green economy development, and sustainable mobility in Nigeria and across Africa.
The agreement formally brings the Presidency’s climate change office into direct partnership with AGFF’s flagship initiatives, including the Africa Green Future Forum and the Africa Green Walk, a continental climate awareness campaign promoting environmental responsibility and citizen participation.
The MoU was signed by Comrade Yussuf Olatunji Kelani, Special Assistant to the President on Climate Change Matters, on behalf of OSSAP-CCM, and Ndukwu, Obinna, Founder of the Africa Green Future Forum, on behalf of AGFF. The landmark signing was also attended by Ebaide Omiunu, Chairperson of the Africa Green Walk.

A Framework for Joint Climate Leadership Under the agreement, both parties will co-convene the annual Africa Green Future Forum, including High-Level Climate Leadership Dialogues, Ministerial Roundtables, and Policy and Investment Forums. The partnership also covers joint planning of the Africa Green Walk, national climate education and public engagement campaigns, the promotion of electric mobility and low-carbon transportation, and collaborative research and innovation on climate data and green technology.
A Joint Coordination Committee, comprising representatives of both OSSAP-CCM and AGFF, will oversee implementation, develop annual work plans, and meet quarterly to review progress. The partnership takes effect immediately and runs for an initial one-year term, renewable by mutual agreement.
Government Backing for the Africa Green Walk
The MoU represents a formal endorsement by the Presidency of the Africa Green Walk, elevating the campaign from a civil-society-led initiative to one with direct institutional backing at the highest level of government. The partnership is expected to mobilise wider participation across government, the private sector, development partners, academia, civil society and communities ahead of the inaugural edition.

The Africa Green Walk will bring together over 10,000 participants, making it Africa’s largest gathering of individuals and organisations for climate action, while pursuing an Official World Record Attempt that will place Nigeria and Africa at the centre of the global climate conversation.
