Plateau: Troops Kill Terrorists, Arrest Suspects, Destroy Hideouts
Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have neutralised suspected terrorists, arrested suspects and dismantled criminal hideouts during coordinated clearance operations in Plateau State.
The operations, conducted under the mandate of Operation Wutan Daji, targeted insurgent corridors in Wase, Qua’an Pan and Shendam Local Government Areas.

According to the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, Capt. Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the troops recorded significant successes during the operations carried out on April 4 and 5, 2026.
Oteh said, “In a decisive blow against insurgents troubling parts of Plateau State, troops… neutralised two suspected terrorists and dismantled several criminal hideouts during clearance operations in Wase Local Government Area.”
He explained that the troops, in collaboration with local vigilantes, engaged terrorists in a firefight along the Babangida–Adua road within Dutsen Zaki forest.
“The superior firepower of the troops resulted in the immediate neutralisation of two suspects, while others fled with gunshot wounds,” he added.
Recovered items include a locally fabricated firearm, a belt containing 105 rounds of 7.62mm PKT ammunition, 30 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and a cutlass.

In a related development, Oteh disclosed that troops in Namu District of Qua’an Pan LGA intercepted four suspected terrorists following credible intelligence.
“Upon search, the suspects were found with 100 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition,” he said.
He further revealed that during follow-up operations to dismantle their hideout, troops came under heavy fire.

“Three of the suspects attempted to escape amidst the chaos and were neutralised by the adversary’s own gunfire,” Oteh stated.
Meanwhile, in Shendam LGA, troops working with residents apprehended a suspected kidnapper linked to an earlier abduction incident.

“The suspect is currently in custody for further investigation and legal action,” he added.
Oteh emphasised that the operations underscore the military’s commitment to restoring peace, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
