Ogun Police Roll Out Week-Long Activities For National Police Day 2026
The Ogun State Police Command has unveiled a lineup of activities to commemorate the 2026 National Police Day, with a strong emphasis on community engagement and trust-building under this year’s theme, “Community Partnership: Building Trust.”
Announcing the programme, the Command said the celebration, championed by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, is dedicated to fallen heroes, serving and retired officers, as well as stakeholders whose contributions continue to support the Nigeria Police Force.

According to the statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the four-day event will commence on Monday, March 30, with a medical outreach organised by the Police Medical Unit at Iwe-Iroyin, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta. The outreach will run alongside an environmental sanitation exercise across police formations in collaboration with community stakeholders.
Activities for Tuesday, March 31, will feature a statewide walkathon aimed at fostering unity and public participation in policing. The walk will take off simultaneously at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, as well as area commands and divisions across the state, beginning at 6:00 a.m.

On Wednesday, April 1, the Command will embark on a sensitisation campaign across the state, focusing on the prevention of electoral violence, discouraging ballot snatching, and promoting safe driving practices among motorists.
The celebration will culminate on Thursday, April 2, with the presentation of welfare cheques to families of deceased police officers. The cheques, issued on behalf of the IGP, will be presented by the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran.
Commissioner Ojajuni called on community leaders, youth and women groups, and other stakeholders to actively participate in the activities, describing the celebration as a demonstration of shared commitment to safety, unity, and support for the police.
The National Police Day celebration is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen public trust and deepen collaboration with communities in ensuring security across the country.
