The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Lekan Jimoh, popularly known as “Kanmo-Kanmo”, a notorious drug kingpin wanted for the killing of three NDLEA officers twelve years ago.
The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued by the Director, Media and Advocacy of the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi.
Babafemi said the suspect was tracked to his hideout in Owode town, Ogun State, where he was arrested on Friday, January 16, 2026, following credible intelligence.
According to the statement, NDLEA operatives recovered 69 kilograms of skunk from the suspect during the operation.
Babafemi said Jimoh had remained a fugitive since June 15, 2014, when he allegedly mobilised armed thugs against NDLEA officers attempting to arrest him.
He disclosed that the attack led to the killing of three officers, including Rabiu Usman Kazaure, while the suspect escaped.
The NDLEA spokesman recalled that in August 2023, the suspect narrowly escaped arrest again when operatives raided his Ado-Odo residence and recovered 1,922 kilograms of skunk.
He said the property used for storing the drugs was later forfeited to the Federal Government by court order.
Babafemi also revealed that NDLEA operatives carried out simultaneous raids in several states, including Lagos, Edo, Delta, Oyo, Enugu, Kwara, Jigawa and the Federal Capital Territory.
He said the operations led to the arrest of multiple suspects, including an online drug vendor, an ex-convict, and the seizure of large quantities of tramadol, codeine syrup and cannabis.
The statement added that NDLEA officers sustained their War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) advocacy across schools, worship centres and communities nationwide.
Babafemi said NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended officers involved in the operations for their dedication.
Marwa was quoted as describing the arrest of Jimoh as “a triumph of justice and a reminder that the Agency does not forget its fallen heroes.”
“You may run, and you may hide, but the long arm of the law will eventually catch up with you,” Marwa said.
Babafemi quoted the NDLEA boss as dedicating the arrest to the families of the slain officers who waited over a decade for justice.
He said the Agency remains resolute in its mandate to dismantle drug networks and hold offenders accountable.
