The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reinforced efforts to keep its personnel physically fit, mentally resilient and ready for the demands of military operations through a nationwide route march exercise.
The Third Quarter Route March Exercise was held simultaneously at NAF formations and units across the country on Saturday, 12 September 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain a fit, resilient and combat-ready force.
Speaking at NAF Camp Abuja on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Chief of Operations, Air Vice Marshal Precious Amadi, said the exercise reflected the Service’s determination to maintain a high level of operational readiness as the country continues to confront terrorism, insurgency, banditry and other security threats.
Amadi said physical fitness, mental resilience, discipline and teamwork were essential to mission success, particularly for personnel operating in demanding security environments.
He explained that the quarterly route march was designed to prepare personnel for the physical demands of military operations while strengthening unity and teamwork across the Service.
According to him, the exercise forms part of the NAF’s wider efforts to improve combat effectiveness through continuous training, capacity development and personnel welfare programmes.
The Chief of the Air Staff commended officers, airmen, airwomen and civilian personnel for their dedication and professionalism, urging them to remain vigilant and committed to their duties.
Aneke also expressed appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his continued support to the Nigerian Air Force and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
He reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to strengthening operational readiness, effectively projecting air power and contributing to the defence, security and stability of the nation.
