The Nigeria Police Force has stepped up preparations for the forthcoming elections with a one-day training for senior officers in Lagos and Ogun states, focusing on professionalism, neutrality and collaboration in election security.
The training, held on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the M.D. Abubakar Hall, Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, was organised by the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Zonal Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, in collaboration with the Institute for Police and Security Policy Research.
The programme, themed, “Professionalism, Neutrality and Collaboration: Strengthening Election Security for Safe and Credible Elections,” was attended by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, who participated in the opening ceremony.
According to the organisers, the training is part of proactive measures to ensure adequate police preparedness for the upcoming elections.
It is aimed at strengthening the professionalism, neutrality and operational readiness of police personnel, while promoting effective collaboration towards ensuring safe, peaceful and credible elections.
Participants comprised the 14 Area Commanders of the Lagos State Command and their counterparts from the Ogun State Command.
The training forms part of efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to enhance the capacity and readiness of its personnel to effectively discharge their responsibilities during the electoral process.
