The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Hon. Kabiru Amadu, has charged the Super Eagles to sustain their focus and shun complacency as they prepare for their quarterfinal fixture at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Hon. Amadu made the call following Nigeria’s emphatic 4–0 victory over Mozambique in Monday night’s Round of 16 encounter. The Super Eagles delivered a commanding performance, with Victor Osimhen netting a brace, while Man of the Match Ademola Lookman added a goal and two assists. Akor Adams capped the dominant outing with Nigeria’s fourth goal.
While commending the players and the technical crew for their impressive showing, the lawmaker, who represents the Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency, praised the team’s attacking depth and overall cohesion but cautioned that the ultimate goal remains ahead.
“The Super Eagles players and the technical crew deserve commendation for their display in the second-round match against Mozambique,” Amadu said.
“The team is well composed, and the quality in the squad means goals can come from any department of the team, which makes it difficult for opponents to contain Nigeria.”
However, he stressed the need for sustained discipline and concentration as the competition moves into its decisive phase.
“The job is not done yet. The team still has three matches to win before lifting the trophy. They must remain disciplined and avoid being carried away by the victory,” he added.
Hon. Amadu further reaffirmed the continued support of the National Assembly and the Federal Government for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the players, and team officials as the Super Eagles pursue continental glory.
