A renowned grassroots political figure and development advocate, Chukwudi Laurence Izegbu, has commenced wide consultations with opinion leaders and stakeholders across Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, outlining his vision for youth empowerment, healthcare development, and improved governance.

According to the immediate past Senior Special Assistant to former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Local Content, “no nation can develop without accurate data,” stressing that proper planning and sustainable policies depend largely on credible statistics about the people.

The grassroots mobiliser and political bulldozer, also charged youths in the area to embrace skills acquisition in emerging and technical fields, particularly those with high demand in the oil and energy sector.

He identified areas such as alternative energy installation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain technology, underwater pipe laying, and sandblasting as critical skills that could create employment opportunities.

Izegbu further pledged to sponsor the training of interested youths and assist them in securing jobs after acquiring the skills.

On healthcare, he disclosed plans to partner with reputable Indian medical companies to bring quality and affordable healthcare services closer to the people.

He explained that strategic partnerships with global health providers could significantly improve access to modern medical care in the state.

Izegbu also highlighted his legislative agenda aimed at promoting development in Delta State. He revealed plans to sponsor a bill that would compel oil-producing companies operating in the state to contribute directly to the construction of roads and other critical infrastructure in host communities.

Addressing social welfare concerns, he expressed deep worry about the plight of vulnerable children, especially young girls. To tackle the issue, Izegbu promised to sponsor legislation that would establish a dedicated state agency responsible for the protection and development of children from birth to 18 years.

He concluded by stressing the need for efficiency and accountability in governance, noting that he would sponsor another bill aimed at ensuring that government appointees in the state remain productive and deliver measurable results in the discharge of their duties.

The consultations, which attracted traditional leaders, youth representatives, women groups, Physically Challenged persons and other stakeholders, also saw Izegbu presenting gifts and support items to constituents as part of his continued commitment to grassroots engagement and community development.

Recall that Izegbu has consistently reiterated at public fora that if elected as a lawmaker, he will sponsor a bill to prohibit public office holders from using expensive vehicles. According to him, this measure is aimed at reducing the high cost of governance and redirecting public resources toward addressing the basic needs of the people.
