By Our Reporter
No fewer than 300 elderly men and women in Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, have benefited from the monthly welfare programme of the Spiritual Director of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry, Uke, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Obimma, popularly known as Fada Ebube Muonso, who distributed bags of rice and monthly salary payments to beneficiaries over the weekend.
The initiative, targeted at community members aged 75 years and above, is part of the cleric’s commitment to sustaining a lifelong legacy of caring for the elderly, the needy and other vulnerable groups in society.
Speaking during the presentation, Fr. Obimma said the gesture formed part of his cherished vision of spreading love, sharing with others and positively impacting lives.
The cleric noted that he had spent many years supporting the welfare and physical needs of less privileged persons, adding that the number of beneficiaries of his various financial and material assistance programmes over the years had become too numerous to count.
Fr. Obimma, who is also the Parish Priest of Blessed Iwene Tansi Catholic Church, Umudioka, in Dunukofia Local Government Area, disclosed that he would soon expand his outreach by embarking on charity visits to correctional centres and homes for the less privileged.
According to him, the planned visits are aimed at reaching inmates and other vulnerable persons in need of support and encouragement.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, a Life Member and Coordinator of the Fada Ebube Muonso Elderly Support Foundation, Madam Angelina Ugonma Chukwura, expressed gratitude to the cleric for his continued commitment to easing the hardships faced by the elderly.
She described the intervention as a source of relief and hope for many aged persons who depend on the programme for support.
Also speaking, another Coordinator of the programme, Madam Irene Orefo, commended Fr. Obimma for his unwavering love and concern for the weak, needy and suffering members of society.
The beneficiaries received bags of rice alongside their monthly salary payments during the event held in Nkwelle-Ezunaka at the weekend.
