With the Ekiti State Governorship Election set for Saturday, 20th June 2026, the Nigeria Police Force has concluded statewide security deployments and activated an emergency response line as part of efforts to guarantee a peaceful, credible and disruption-free electoral process.
The Force announced that comprehensive operational arrangements have been completed across all 2,545 polling units in the state, extending to critical infrastructure, border communities, major entry and exit routes, and other strategic locations identified as sensitive during the election period.

Providing an update on election readiness, the Commissioner of Police in charge of Election Security, CP Shogule Abayomi, disclosed that a multi-layered security architecture has been put in place to safeguard voters, electoral officials, observers and election materials throughout the exercise.
According to him, security personnel and operational assets have been strategically positioned across designated locations to ensure effective monitoring, rapid response and uninterrupted conduct of the election.

Force Headquarters, Abuja on Friday assured Nigerians that officers deployed for election duty have undergone adequate briefing on operational guidelines and rules of engagement and will perform their responsibilities professionally, impartially and strictly within the provisions of the law.
The Nigeria Police Force warned that electoral offences and actions capable of compromising the integrity of the election would attract sanctions in line with the Electoral Act and other extant laws.
The Force urged citizens to remain law-abiding and maintain peaceful conduct throughout the electoral process.
To strengthen emergency response mechanisms, the Nigeria Police Force announced that the dedicated election emergency line – 080062335577 has been activated and will remain operational throughout the election period to enable timely reporting and intervention.

Eligible voters were also encouraged to participate peacefully and exercise their constitutional rights without fear or intimidation, while residents were cautioned against circulating unverified information capable of creating panic or undermining public order.
Reaffirming its commitment, the Nigeria Police Force assured residents of Ekiti State of adequate protection of lives and property and pledged to support the conduct of a free, fair, credible and peaceful governorship election.
