The Delta State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal networks, leading to the arrest of suspected cultists, kidnappers and armed robbers, as well as the recovery of firearms, illicit drugs and weapons.

‎The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday

‎“In a series of intelligence-driven operations… the Command recorded notable successes across different parts of the State, leading to the arrest of suspects and recovery of firearms and illicit drugs,” he said.

‎Edafe explained that operatives of the Raiders Unit raided a criminal hideout in Ika South Local Government Area, Agbor.

‎“The operation led to the arrest of one Henry Obi, who confessed to being a member of the Aiye Confraternity,” he stated.

‎He added that an English-made pistol with six rounds of live ammunition was recovered, alongside illicit drugs concealed inside an air conditioner.

‎In a separate operation, Edafe said operatives of the Buffalo Team, in collaboration with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, raided a hideout at Hausa Market along the Benin–Asaba Expressway.

‎“The operation led to the arrest of four suspects and recovery of suspected illicit drugs including Colorado, Canadian Loud, Indian hemp, Tramadol and Swinol,” he said.

‎He further disclosed that two locally fabricated battle axes and N144,000 were recovered.

‎Edafe noted that all suspects were in custody and investigations were ongoing.

‎He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies.
