The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, on Thursday, January 15, 2026, joined other State Service Chiefs and distinguished personalities in a solemn wreath-laying ceremony to honour security personnel who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
The ceremony, held as part of activities marking Armed Forces Remembrance Day, was led by the Special Guest of Honour, His Excellency, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the Executive Governor of Anambra State. The event was dedicated to commemorating the courage, sacrifice, and selfless service of fallen officers who gave their lives in defence of the nation and the protection of lives and property.
Highlights of the ceremony included a minute of silence, intercessory prayers, a gun salute, the laying of wreaths, and the unveiling and release of white pigeons by the Governor, the Commissioner of Police, Service Chiefs, and other dignitaries.
The symbolic activities reflected collective gratitude, solemn remembrance, and the shared aspiration for enduring peace and security in the state and the nation at large.
