The former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (retd.), and the TY Buratai Humanity Care Foundation have commended troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces for repelling a terrorist attack on their camp in Buni Yadi, Yobe State, reportedly neutralising about 50 attackers without recording any casualty.
The commendation followed an attack on the military camp at about 11:00 p.m. on October 29, 2026 when approximately 200 terrorists reportedly launched an assault on the facility.
The Chairman of the Foundation, Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani, in a statement, praised the troops for their gallantry, professionalism and tactical coordination in successfully repelling the attack.
He said the troops responded swiftly and decisively, neutralising about 50 terrorists and recovering a substantial cache of arms, ammunition and other military equipment.
Danfulani described the operation as a demonstration of the Nigerian military’s resilience, combat readiness and determination to defend the country’s territorial integrity against terrorism and insurgency.
He particularly noted that no casualty was recorded among the troops during the encounter, attributing the successful defence of the camp to their preparedness, discipline and effective execution of operational responsibilities.
The statement further disclosed that the Foundation’s Grand Patron, Ambassador Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (retd.), CFR, had also extended his commendation to the officers and men for their outstanding performance.
Buratai, a former Chief of Army Staff, reportedly acknowledged the courage, sacrifices and dedication demonstrated by the troops in confronting the attackers and defending their position.
He urged them to sustain their fighting spirit, operational vigilance and professionalism, while remaining committed to protecting Nigeria and restoring lasting peace and security across the country.
The former Army Chief also encouraged the personnel to remain steadfast in the discharge of their responsibilities, noting the enormous sacrifices associated with military service.
The Foundation equally commended the military leadership for providing the strategic direction, operational support and motivation required to strengthen the fighting capacity of troops deployed across various theatres of operation.
Danfulani urged the troops not to relent until terrorism and other security threats were decisively defeated.
He also prayed for God’s continued protection, strength and wisdom for members of the Armed Forces, as well as the safe return of personnel serving in different operational theatres across the country.
“Nigeria is proud of your courage, sacrifice and patriotism. Your victory is a victory for our nation,” the statement said.
The Foundation reaffirmed its support for the Nigerian Armed Forces, acknowledging the sacrifices of military personnel in defending the nation’s sovereignty and protecting citizens against security threats.
