As part of activities marking the 2026 Armed Forces Day Celebration, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, on Saturday, 11 January 2026, joined the Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, alongside other security service commanders and top government officials at a special church service held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Awka.
The solemn service, a major highlight of the Armed Forces Day commemorations, was organised in honour of the bravery, patriotism, and ultimate sacrifices of officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces who laid down their lives in defence of the nation’s unity, sovereignty, and security.
The event provided an opportunity for prayers and reflections on national peace and stability, while reaffirming collective commitment to supporting the nation’s security architecture.
Speaking on the significance of the occasion, CP Ikioye Orutugu emphasised the critical role of inter-agency collaboration and community partnership in sustaining effective security operations across Anambra State, noting that collective responsibility remains central to safeguarding lives and property.
The church service attracted senior security personnel, government functionaries, religious leaders, and members of the public, underscoring widespread appreciation for the Armed Forces and their invaluable contributions to national development
