AIG Jimoh Meets Lagos, Ogun CPs, Reiterates IGP’s Directives on Security
By Odita Sunday
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has held a strategic security meeting with the Commissioners of Police of Lagos and Ogun states to review prevailing security challenges and reinforce the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Afolayan Gbenga, the meeting featured extensive briefings on crime trends, operational issues, and strategies to strengthen security across the two states.

The AIG emphasized intensified operational alertness, intelligence-led policing, technology-driven operations, rapid response mechanisms, and strategic deployment of personnel to tackle violent crimes and emerging threats. He also stressed the need for heightened vigilance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Jimoh underscored the importance of proactive and community policing, improved intelligence gathering, visibility policing, surveillance patrols, and targeted raids on criminal hideouts to sustain peace.
He directed an immediate halt to the transfer of cases from state commands to the zonal headquarters, noting that complaints and petitions should be handled by the respective state commands, with possible collaboration from zonal detectives where necessary.
The AIG also ordered strict compliance with the directives of the IGP, particularly regarding professionalism and conduct, warning that erring officers would face disciplinary actions. He cited the recent dismissal of five inspectors over misconduct and human rights violations as a deterrent.
The Commissioners of Police for Lagos and Ogun states, in their remarks, reported improvements in personnel conduct and performance, assuring continued compliance with directives.

Jimoh commended the IGP for providing logistics and an enabling environment that have enhanced operational successes, and also appreciated the support of the Lagos and Ogun State Governments in strengthening policing capacity.
He further directed the CPs to intensify surveillance, stop-and-search operations, and ensure prompt investigation of criminal cases while promoting transparency and public trust.
