Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued three kidnapped victims following a distress call over terrorist activities along the Dandume-Sheme Road in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The rescue operation was carried out on Thursday, September 3, 2026, by troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the troops responded swiftly to the distress call from local residents and mobilised to the area.
He said the troops made contact with the terrorists and overwhelmed them with superior firepower, forcing them to flee into the surrounding bush and abandon their victims.

“Exploitation of the general area led to the rescue of three kidnapped victims along with two vehicles used by the terrorists,” Danja said.
He added that the rescued victims and recovered vehicles were subsequently handed over to the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume, while troops continued to dominate the area through aggressive patrols aimed at denying the terrorists freedom of action.

Danja said the successful operation demonstrated the resolve of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protect the lives and property of law-abiding citizens across the Joint Operations Area.
He commended members of the public for their continued support and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security outpost for prompt action.
