Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has been honoured as the Most Outstanding Anti-Crime Police Chief in West and Central Africa for 2025 by the Security Watch Africa Initiatives Network.
The award was presented on Tuesday at the Zone 2 Headquarters in Lagos by the Chief Executive Officer and International Coordinator of Security Watch Africa Initiatives Network, Mr. Patrick Agbambu, following the 19th Africa Security Watch Conference and Awards held in The Gambia.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 2 Headquarters, DSP Afolayan Gbenga, the award recognises AIG Jimoh’s outstanding contributions to crime prevention, crime control and the promotion of national security.
Speaking during the presentation, Agbambu commended the senior police officer for his achievements in strengthening security and reducing crime, particularly during his tenure as Commissioner of Police in Lagos State.
He said the award was in recognition of Jimoh’s dedication, professionalism and commitment to effective policing, urging him to sustain his efforts while inspiring younger officers to uphold integrity, protect lives and property, and promote the rule of law.
Responding, AIG Jimoh expressed gratitude to God for the honour and thanked the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for his leadership and unwavering support.
He also appreciated the Security Watch Africa Initiatives Network for considering him worthy of the continental recognition.
The AIG dedicated the award to officers and men of the Zone 2 Headquarters as well as personnel of the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands, attributing the recognition to their professionalism, dedication and teamwork.
He said the collective efforts of the officers contributed significantly to the success of crime prevention and control strategies introduced during his leadership in Lagos and now at Zone 2, leading to a reduction in criminal activities across Lagos and Ogun states.
Jimoh reaffirmed his commitment to impartial policing and the rule of law, assuring Nigerians that he would continue to discharge his constitutional responsibilities without fear or favour.
He also vowed not to be distracted by false narratives or misrepresentations, stressing that he would remain focused on ensuring public safety and maintaining peace across the Zone.
