The Ogun State Police Command has urged students across the country to remain committed to academic excellence and avoid social vices capable of destroying their future and undermining societal peace.
The call was made by the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Department of Geosciences, University of Lagos, to the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the delegation comprised lecturers and students of Geology and Geophysics led by Professor Akinmosin Adewale as part of a geological fieldwork excursion within Ogun State.
According to Babaseyi, the visit provided an avenue for academic engagement and collaboration between the police and academic institutions on youth development and public safety awareness.

The police spokesman stated that Professor Adewale commended the leadership of the Commissioner of Police for sustained security efforts and enhanced community policing initiatives across the state.
According to the statement, the professor also appreciated the warm reception accorded to the delegation, noting that exposure to security institutions helps promote civic responsibility among students.
Addressing the students, CP Ojajuni commended them for their dedication to academic pursuits and urged them to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to their future goals.

The Commissioner stressed that education remains a major pathway to personal growth, national development, and responsible citizenship.
According to Babaseyi, the police chief warned the students against involvement in cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractice, and other criminal activities.
Ojajuni noted that such social vices could destroy promising careers and threaten societal stability.

The statement further disclosed that members of the Command’s management team also engaged the students during an interactive session.
According to Babaseyi, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, DCP Ibrahim Abdul; Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Gbenga Adeoye; and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Administration, ACP Akinmoladun Olu Moore, all encouraged the students to embrace patriotism, lawful conduct, and responsible citizenship.
They also urged the students to become ambassadors of peace and partners in promoting community safety within their academic environment.

The police spokesman stated that the engagement gave the students valuable insight into policing operations and reinforced the importance of collaboration between security institutions and educational bodies.
According to the statement, a student representative, Adeniyi Oluwatobi, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Police and members of the management team for the mentorship and interaction.
