Troops of the Nigerian Army attached to 12 Brigade have recorded major operational successes in Kogi State with the rescue of kidnapped victims and the interception of a suspected terrorist ammunition courier during coordinated security operations.
The operations, conducted under Operation TIGER PAW II on May 6, 2026, were described by military authorities as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal and terrorist networks operating within the North Central region.
In a statement signed by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Hassan Abdullahi, troops successfully rescued the remaining victims abducted from the Daarul-Kitab Islamic Orphanage after sustained search-and-rescue operations within the Agbaja Forest axis of Lokoja Local Government Area.

According to Abdullahi, troops acting on credible intelligence and sustained operational pressure intercepted and recovered the victims through the Brigade’s Blocking Force during operations around the forest area.
The Army spokesman disclosed that the rescued victims included five boys, two girls, and two adult women believed to be relatives of the proprietor of the orphanage.
According to the statement, the victims were immediately evacuated to the 12 Brigade Medical Centre where they received medical attention and first aid treatment.
Abdullahi stated that all the rescued victims were in stable condition.
In a related operation carried out on the same day, troops reportedly intercepted a suspected terrorist logistics courier along the Obajana–Lokoja road following intelligence on the movement of arms and ammunition within the region.

The suspect, identified as Yahaya Umar, was arrested while allegedly transporting 500 rounds of 7.62mm NATO belted ammunition concealed inside a bag of maize.

According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly served as a logistics courier involved in the movement of arms and ammunition for terrorist elements operating within parts of the North Central region.
The Army spokesman stated that further interrogation indicated that the ammunition was allegedly handed over to the suspect within the Obajana Forest area for transportation to Dikko Junction in Suleja, Niger State.
Abdullahi disclosed that investigations were ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the criminal network linked to the operation.
The statement noted that the suspect remains in military custody while interrogation continues.
According to Abdullahi, the successful operations demonstrate the Nigerian Army’s commitment to protecting lives and sustaining pressure against terrorists and criminal collaborators.
The Army further appealed to members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
