The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of officers and their families, presenting cheques worth ₦184,889,087 to beneficiaries and next of kin of personnel who died in active service.

The presentation, carried out by the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, who was represented by Sulaiman M. Abdul, took place at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, as part of activities marking the National Police Day celebration.

A total of sixteen beneficiaries received the cheques under the Group Life Assurance Scheme, in a ceremony that underscored the sacrifices made by police personnel in the line of duty.

The event served as a solemn moment of remembrance for officers who paid the ultimate price while protecting lives and property across the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, the IGP acknowledged the immense sacrifices of both serving and retired personnel, noting that the risks associated with policing often extend beyond the individual officer to their families.

He stressed that while no financial compensation can replace lost lives, the gesture reflects the Force’s enduring responsibility to stand by the families of fallen heroes.

The police boss further assured that the welfare of officers, including those injured in the line of duty, remains a priority for the leadership of the Force.

He emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force will continue to honour the memory of its fallen personnel by supporting their loved ones and upholding the values they served to protect.

The ceremony also highlighted the importance of institutional support systems in boosting morale among serving officers, reinforcing confidence that their sacrifices will not be forgotten.

The Force reiterated its commitment to improving welfare packages and sustaining initiatives that recognise the dedication and service of its personnel, both in active duty and in retirement.
