The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Command, Lagos, has arrested three suspects over alleged involvement in cybercrime, fraud, and related offences.

The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation by the Zonal Intelligence Department in the Lekki–Ajah area of Lagos State.

The suspects—Tega Emmanuel (24), Jacob Olatunde (33), and Gift Okubakpere (36)—were apprehended after operatives intercepted Emmanuel along Chevron Drive.

Police said Emmanuel confessed to cybercrime activities, leading to a search of his residence where the other suspects were arrested.
According to the police, the suspects played different roles in the syndicate.
Emmanuel allegedly coordinated cyber fraud and romance scams, Olatunde handled financial transactions, while Okubakpere managed cryptocurrency-related operations conducted via social media and online platforms.
Items recovered include laptops, mobile phones, international passports, vehicle number plates, dealer plates, military camouflage, a mini printer, and a toy gun.

The police also recovered 98 pieces of suspected counterfeit $100 notes and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

Authorities said investigations are ongoing to determine the authenticity of the recovered items and to track other members of the syndicate.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, said the suspects would be charged to court after investigations.
