Operation Hadin Kai Troops Foil Mass Abduction, Rescue 150 Civilians Ahead of Easter

In a harrowing showdown that could have turned tragic, over 150 civilians narrowly escaped a planned mass kidnapping by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, thanks to the swift action of Operation HADIN KAI troops. The daring rescue unfolded on 30 March 2026 at Dutse Kura, Sector 2, as insurgents tried to abduct men, women, and children along the Buratai-Kamuya axis.
Troops escorting the civilians came under sudden attack, but reinforced by a Quick Reaction Force, they repelled the terrorists and pursued them toward Mangari. Under relentless military pressure, the insurgents abandoned all kidnapped civilians and vehicles, allowing their safe recovery and return to Buratai for reunification with families.
The operation was not without sacrifice. Troops encountered an improvised explosive device along the Bula Zarma-Mangari axis, leaving five personnel with severe injuries, now receiving specialist medical care.
Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of OPHK, praised the troops’ bravery, emphasizing the military’s commitment to civilian protection, regional stabilisation, and sustained pressure on terrorist elements, especially as Easter approaches.
