Troops record sweeping victories across regions, kill terrorists, rescue victims in one week – DHQ
The Defence Headquarters has said troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria achieved significant victories against terrorists and criminal elements in operations conducted nationwide between March 13 and 19, 2026.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, said the operations led to the neutralisation of terrorists, arrest of suspects, rescue of kidnapped victims and recovery of arms and ammunition.
“These efforts have resulted in the neutralisation of terrorists, and the recovery of illicit arms, ammunition and other contraband materials,” he said.
Onoja revealed that in the North-East, troops repelled insurgent attacks and recorded a major success after foiling a drone-assisted attack in Borno State.
He also disclosed that in the North-West, troops killed terrorists, rescued kidnapped victims and disrupted planned attacks.
He added,”Operations in the North-Central led to arrests of arms suppliers and recovery of weapons, while troops also dismantled illegal mining operations.
”In the South-South, troops intensified the crackdown on oil theft, destroying illegal refining sites and seizing petroleum products.”
He further stated that in the South-East, troops neutralised threats and recovered improvised explosive devices and weapons.
“The AFN assures Nigerians that ongoing operations will be further intensified,” Onoja added.
He said the military remains committed to protecting lives and property and sustaining pressure on criminal elements across the country.
