Don’t Trade Collective Interest for Political Selfishness, Onwuegbuzia Warns Leaders
A strong warning has been issued to political leaders in Oshimili South against what has been described as growing tendencies to prioritise personal ambitions over the collective good of the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency.
The caution came from Ogbueshi Chiedu Onwuegbuzia following a high-profile political gathering hosted by the Oshimili South APC leadership for Rt. Hon. Godwin Ndudi Elumelu and his campaign team.
The meeting, held on Monday, March 16, 2026, saw the Oshimili South APC Chairman, Ogbueshi Dada Okolo, alongside local government and ward executives, receive Elumelu and his campaign council in what observers described as a significant political homecoming.
The event drew a large turnout of party stakeholders and political figures across the constituency, including campaign council chairman, Chief Edwin Uzor; Director-General, Hon. Chief Darlington Ijeh; Secretary, Ogbueshi Chike Ifesiokwu; and the incumbent Chairman of Aniocha Local Government Area, Hon. Bridget Anyafulu, among others.
What began as an interactive session soon transformed into a celebratory gathering, marked by goodwill messages, commendations, and expressions of solidarity.
Speakers at the event praised the APC leadership in Oshimili South for what they described as uncommon unity, organisation, and hospitality.
Addressing the gathering, Elumelu struck a reflective tone, urging political actors and supporters to embrace humility and uphold the values of service and brotherhood.
He also highlighted his track record in office, outlining developmental projects attracted to the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, which drew applause from attendees.
Onwuegbuzia, however, used the occasion to sound a broader political note, stressing that leaders must not lose sight of the constituency’s unique structure, which comprises four local government areas an arrangement he said places it at a comparative disadvantage.
He emphasised the need for unity and strategic political alignment, urging stakeholders to rally behind credible leadership capable of securing higher-ranking positions in the National Assembly, such as Speaker or Majority Leader, for the benefit of the constituency.
According to him, only a collective and selfless approach to politics would ensure that the interests of the Aniocha/Oshimili people are protected and advanced.
