President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the recent terrorist attacks in Maiduguri, describing the incidents as disturbing and extending condolences to victims and their families.

In a statement on Tuesday, the President said he mourns those who lost their lives and sympathises with the injured, while assuring the people of Borno State of the Federal Government’s support during the difficult period.

Tinubu, however, characterised the attacks as “desperate attempts” by terrorist groups under sustained pressure from Nigerian security forces.

He reiterated that the government would intensify operations to eliminate criminal elements across the country.

The President commended the bravery of troops and civilian task forces for repelling coordinated assaults on military formations, noting that their courage remains critical in the ongoing fight against insurgency.

He revealed that he recently approved additional equipment and operational support for security agencies following a high-level meeting with intelligence and defence chiefs, adding that the deployment process is already underway.

As part of immediate measures, Tinubu directed security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri to oversee operations, while also instructing emergency response agencies to ensure adequate treatment for the injured.

Reaffirming his administration’s resolve, the President declared that terrorists would find no safe haven in Nigeria, vowing that they would be tracked, confronted, and defeated.

“Nigeria will not succumb to fear,” he stated.
