Asagba Of Asaba Woos Corporate Nigeria With Investment Summit In Lagos
In a bold push to position Asaba as Nigeria’s next major economic hub, the Asagba of Asaba, Epiphany Azinge, will host captains of industry and corporate leaders in Lagos later this month to unveil massive investment opportunities and strategic development projects in the Delta State capital.
The high-level engagement, themed “Asaba: The Strategic Gateway To Nigeria’s Next Economic Powerhouse,” is scheduled for March 29 at Eko Hotel and Suites.
The meeting is designed as an “Evening with Corporate Nigeria,” where investors will be introduced to key infrastructure and real estate projects expected to reshape the economic outlook of Asaba.
According to a statement signed by Chike Ogeah, Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Publicity and Contacts for the organising committee, the initiative aims to deepen partnerships between the traditional institution, government and private sector stakeholders.
One of the flagship projects to be unveiled is the Asaba Waterfront City, a 999,999-square-metre Grade-A mixed-use development planned along the River Niger.
The tech-driven city project, already under construction, will feature modern infrastructure, flood-control systems and premium residential and commercial facilities, with completion projected between 2028 and 2030.
Investors will also be briefed on the Asaba Ultra-Modern Mall and the International Conference Centre, both conceived to support the city’s rapidly growing population and expanding middle-income workforce.
The International Conference Centre, currently under construction, is designed as a multidimensional complex for large-scale meetings and events. It will include a 1,500-seat auditorium, a 1,000-capacity banquet hall, and 11 meeting rooms of varying sizes, alongside supporting facilities such as restaurants, offices and a cultural centre.
Prof. Azinge, a former Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, is expected to use the forum to engage directly with business leaders, strengthen partnerships and initiate investment deals tied to the economic expansion of the Delta State capital.
Other projects expected to feature prominently include the Maryam Babangida Leisure Park and Film Village, which has become a growing hub for Nollywood productions, positioning Asaba as an emerging entertainment destination.
The monarch is also expected to highlight strategic infrastructure supporting economic growth, including the Onitsha River Port and Asaba International Airport, both of which enhance connectivity and logistics for businesses operating across the South-East, South-South and South-West regions.
Beyond infrastructure, the palace has introduced measures aimed at simplifying land acquisition for investors by eliminating encumbrances and curbing the activities of land touts, thereby creating a more investor-friendly environment for real estate development.
The Lagos meeting is expected to serve as a convergence of culture and capital, bringing together traditional leadership, government and the private sector to explore new partnerships that will accelerate Asaba’s transformation into a major economic gateway.
