Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, a senatorial candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has outlined his development agenda for Ndokwa Nation, highlighting electricity, road infrastructure, education and security as key priorities.
Ochei spoke during an interactive meeting between NDC candidates and leaders of the Ndokwa Neku Union, led by its President-General, Comrade Chief Amechi Asugwuni, at Ndokwa House.
The meeting provided an opportunity for community leaders and stakeholders to engage the candidates on their plans, political agenda and proposed solutions to challenges confronting Ndokwa people.

Addressing the gathering, Ochei said candidates seeking public office should be assessed based on character, competence and capacity, which he described as the three pillars underpinning his senatorial ambition.
He urged the electorate to scrutinise the records of political aspirants, particularly how they had utilised public offices, powers and resources entrusted to them, as well as their integrity and capacity to deliver development.
The NDC candidate lamented what he described as the development gap in Ndokwa Nation despite its enormous natural gas deposits, noting that many communities still grapple with inadequate electricity, poor educational facilities, flooding and deplorable roads.

Drawing on his engineering background and experience in the energy sector, Ochei explained possible approaches to electricity generation and distribution, stressing the need to translate the area’s natural resources into tangible benefits for residents.
On infrastructure, he said he would deploy legislative instruments and lobbying to attract Federal Government intervention towards rehabilitating abandoned roads linking communities across Ndokwa Nation.
He also criticised the neglect of the roads by the immediate past governor, arguing that the administration had the executive powers to address the challenges.

On insecurity, particularly the alleged destruction of farmlands by herders and harassment of women in farming communities, Ochei said he would raise the concerns on the floor of the Senate if elected.
He further expressed the expectation that an incoming administration led by Peter Obi would prioritise insecurity, including through the declaration of a state of emergency, as previously indicated by the presidential candidate.
Ochei also challenged other senatorial candidates, particularly those who had previously served as senators and governors, to an open debate on their records, achievements and plans for Ndokwa Nation.
He maintained that his record in public service should be subjected to public scrutiny.
Among those present at the meeting were the NDC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Ossai Godwin Osumili; House of Representatives candidate for Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, Dr Ugochukwu Nwokolo, popularly known as Overdoo; and House of Assembly candidate, Engr. Nzei Ajuah.

Others included Hon. Eze Anthony, Hon. Jash Oyeme and the NDC Senatorial Chairman, Hon. Aaron Udoka Ebenuwa, alongside traditional leaders, community stakeholders and other party members.
The delegation was received by supporters of the party, who participated in the engagement.
The meeting formed part of the NDC candidates’ outreach to Ndokwa communities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with discussions centred on development priorities, public accountability and security.
