The Nigerian Navy Marines, operating under Operation HADIN KAI in conjunction with the 403 Amphibious Brigade of the Nigerian Army, have neutralised 34 Boko Haram terrorists in sustained, intelligence-driven offensive operations in the Lake Chad area.
The operations, conducted between October 28 and 30, 2026, also disrupted terrorist activities and targeted identified Boko Haram enclaves as troops intensified efforts to deny the insurgents freedom of action in the North-East.
The Nigerian Navy disclosed the development in a statement on Saturday signed by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho.
According to the statement, the operational successes were recorded through sustained offensive action by Nigerian Navy Marines deployed at the Naval Base Lake Chad.
“The Nigerian Navy Marines at the Naval Base Lake Chad in conjunction with 403 Amphibious Brigade Nigerian Army, operating under Operation HADIN KAI, have recorded significant operational gains against Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) in the Lake Chad area through sustained, intelligence-driven offensive operations,” Folorunsho said.
The first operation was conducted on October 28, when the Navy Marines launched an offensive against terrorist elements in the area.
While initial reports put the number of terrorists killed at eight, a subsequent Battle Damage Assessment revised the figure upward to 28.
“On 28 October 2026, the Nigerian Navy Marines conducted offensive operations against terrorist elements, with initial reports indicating that 8 terrorists were killed in action. A subsequent Battle Damage Assessment revised the casualty figure to 28 terrorists killed in action,” the statement said.
In a separate operation on October 30, the Nigerian Navy Marines carried out another offensive strike against an identified Boko Haram terrorist enclave at Dumba in the Lake Chad area.
The Navy said the operation was preceded by Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions, which enabled troops to identify and monitor the activities of the terrorists before executing a precision strike.
“The operation followed Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions that facilitated the identification and monitoring of terrorist elements before a precision strike was executed,” Folorunsho stated.
Preliminary Battle Damage Assessment from the Dumba operation indicated that about six terrorists were neutralised, while several others sustained injuries.
“Preliminary Battle Damage Assessment indicates that approximately 6 terrorists were neutralised, while several others reportedly sustained injuries. The casualty figures remain subject to further verification as operational assessments continue,” the Navy said.
The latest operations further highlight the growing role of the recently established Nigerian Navy Marines in the counter-insurgency campaign in the North-East.

The Navy described the Marines as a force multiplier under Operation HADIN KAI, noting that their deployment had strengthened joint offensive operations against Boko Haram elements across the Lake Chad axis.
“Since their deployment, the recently established Nigerian Navy Marines have served as a force multiplier under Operation HADIN KAI, strengthening the conduct of offensive operations against terrorist elements,” the statement said.
It added that the operational contributions of the Marines had “enhanced the capacity to target terrorist enclaves, disrupt hostile activities and deny Boko Haram Terrorists freedom of action within the Lake Chad area.”
“These efforts continue to support the degradation of terrorist capabilities and advance ongoing operations to restore peace and stability in the North East,” Folorunsho added.
The Nigerian Navy reaffirmed its commitment to supporting joint military operations through sustained offensive actions and intelligence-driven engagements aimed at strengthening national security and protecting vulnerable communities.
“The Nigerian Navy remains committed to supporting joint operations through sustained offensive action and intelligence-driven engagements to strengthen national security and protect vulnerable communities,” the statement said.
