Six kidnapped victims have been rescued by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA after soldiers engaged suspected terrorists in a gun battle along the Wasagu-Ayu Road in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The rescue operation was carried out on September 2, 2026, following credible intelligence on suspected terrorist activity around Mehinua Village in the area.
Acting on the intelligence, troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), swiftly mobilised to the location and made contact with the terrorists.
The troops engaged the terrorists with a high volume of fire, forcing them to flee and abandon the kidnapped victims.
All six victims were subsequently rescued unharmed, while the vehicle was recovered and handed over, alongside the victims, to the relevant community authorities for further necessary action.
The successful operation underscores the resolve of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to safeguard the lives and property of law-abiding citizens across the Joint Operations Area.
The operation also highlights the importance of credible and timely intelligence in enabling troops to respond swiftly to threats and protect communities within the Joint Operations Area.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA appreciated the general public for its continued support and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities within their localities to the nearest security outpost for prompt action.
