Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) Tactical Team, have neutralised more than 21 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and destroyed a major terrorist camp in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The operation, conducted in the Kopre Mountain general area on August 27, followed credible intelligence on the location of the terrorists and was aimed at rescuing abducted persons held by the insurgents.
According to a statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the joint force comprising the ONSA Tactical Team and newly inducted troops of 226 Battalion, deployed to Sector 4, Adamawa, carried out a stealth operation into the difficult terrain.
Goni said the troops penetrated the terrorist enclave in the early hours of August 27 and engaged the insurgents in two separate encounters.
He said more than 21 terrorists were neutralised during the fierce engagements, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.

The troops subsequently took control of the area, dismantled the terrorist camp and destroyed its logistics infrastructure, further weakening the insurgents’ operational capacity in the area.
The operation was also targeted at locating and rescuing victims abducted from Mussa community in May 2026 and Lassa school children kidnapped in June 2026.
During the exploitation of the camp, the troops destroyed several motorcycles, bicycles and jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit suspected to have been used for terrorist logistics and mobility.
The joint force also recovered several AK-47 rifles, magazines and a substantial quantity of 7.62mm Special ammunition.
Goni said the operation demonstrated the ability of the troops to penetrate difficult terrain, dismantle terrorist enclaves and deny insurgents freedom of action.
He said the Military High Command commended the ONSA Tactical Team and Operation HADIN KAI troops for their gallantry, professionalism, resilience and coordination during the operation.
“Their decisive action reflects the determination of the Armed Forces and other security stakeholders to relentlessly pursue and degrade terrorist elements wherever they may seek refuge,” he said.
The Joint Task Force, North East, according to the statement, will sustain intelligence-driven operations aimed at locating and rescuing abducted persons, destroying terrorist strongholds and degrading their logistics and fighting capabilities.
It also assured residents that search and rescue operations would continue until the abducted persons are located and rescued, as efforts intensify to restore lasting peace and security across the North East.
