The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is set to deploy a dedicated Passport Intervention Team to the United Kingdom to ease the processing of pending, new and renewal passport applications for Nigerians in the diaspora.
The intervention, directed by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, will see the team from the NIS Headquarters arrive in the UK on August 10, 2026, where it will work in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission.
According to the NIS, the team will visit designated cities across the UK to conduct passport enrolment and processing, allowing eligible applicants in different parts of the country to access the service without necessarily travelling long distances.
The exercise is open to applicants with pending passport applications, new applicants and holders of passports with less than one year remaining before expiry who wish to renew them.
Applicants are required to present their completed application forms and proof of payment during enrolment.
The Service said the detailed schedule, including the cities to be visited, dates, venues, enrolment times and other arrangements, would be announced separately.
It therefore advised applicants not to proceed to any location until the official schedule is released, urging them to monitor the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission in the UK for updates.
The NIS also clarified that all its digital passport application channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, would remain fully operational throughout the intervention exercise.
The home delivery service will also remain available to applicants.
