The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Auwal Musa Mohammed as the new Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, Kano State, alongside the deployment of eight Commissioners of Police (CPs) to state commands.
According to a statement signed by the Head of Protocol and Public Relations of the Commission, Mr. Torty Njoku Kalu, the postings were approved at the Commission’s meeting held on Tuesday and are aimed at addressing operational exigencies arising from the promotion of former Commissioners of Police.
The newly deployed Commissioners of Police are CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo to Abia State, CP Ayodeji Faniyan to Plateau State, CP Saka Adewale Ajao to Bayelsa State, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue to Cross River State, CP Nnanna Oji Ama to Anambra State, CP Patrick Daaor to Edo State, CP Tijani Murtala to Jigawa State and CP Samuel Erale Etaifo to Delta State.
The statement said AIG Mohammed brings over 33 years of policing experience spanning operations, criminal investigations, intelligence-led policing and police training.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Bayero University, Kano, and has previously served as Commandant of the Police College, Maiduguri, Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, as well as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Zones 3 and 6. He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
Speaking during the meeting, the Board Member and Honourable Commissioner I of the Commission, Hon. Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (JSC, rtd), who presided over the session, urged the newly posted officers to discharge their responsibilities with integrity and professionalism.
Galumje charged them to “stand firm, uphold the rule of law, and remain neutral and diligent in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.”
He stressed that neutrality, professionalism and strict adherence to the rule of law remain essential to effective policing and the maintenance of public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
According to the statement, the Commission expressed confidence that the new postings would strengthen leadership at the affected state commands and enhance operational effectiveness across the country.
Other members of the Commission present at the meeting were Alhaji Abdulfatah Mohammed, Hon. Justice Christine Ladi Dabup (rtd), and the Secretary to the Commission, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani.
