The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sanctioned 79 personnel for various acts of professional misconduct and arrested 12 suspects over alleged vandalism of critical national infrastructure and illegal arms dealing.
The Commandant General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, said the actions underscore the Corps’ commitment to transparency, discipline and zero tolerance for misconduct.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commandant of Corps Babawale Afolabi, disciplinary proceedings conducted under the Public Service Rules and the NSCDC Conditions of Service led to sanctions against 75 officers.
Those affected comprise one Assistant Commandant General (ACG), two Deputy Commandants (DCs), 35 senior officers and 37 junior officers.
The Corps said the offences included job racketeering, financial misconduct, theft, absence without official leave and acts considered prejudicial to state security. Sanctions imposed ranged from dismissal and compulsory retirement to recommendations for criminal prosecution.
Among the cases concluded was the February 18, 2026 operational incident at Rafin Gabas in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, which resulted in the death of Mining Marshals Location Commander, Levi Agada.
Investigations revealed that two personnel, Hosea Habila and Jibrin Labaran, unlawfully engaged suspected illegal miners with firearms without authorization. Both officers have been dismissed from the Corps and recommended for criminal prosecution.
The NSCDC also disclosed that four personnel are currently facing disciplinary proceedings being handled by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS) in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police over alleged involvement in illegal arms dealing.
The officers include Superintendent Tesie Victor Nnamdi of the Enugu State Command, Assistant Superintendent II Okwuruinya Uchenna and Assistant Superintendent II Obaji Sampson, both of the Ebonyi State Command. They are facing internal disciplinary measures alongside legal prosecution.
Another officer, Superintendent Achor Favour of the Nasarawa State Command, is undergoing administrative disciplinary proceedings following allegations of negligence and mistreatment of a teenage domestic helper, Mercy Hajara Muhammad.
On the operational front, the Corps said its Special Intelligence Squad arrested nine suspects linked to illegal firearms and ammunition trafficking in Ebonyi, Enugu, Kogi, Niger states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The suspects were identified as Friday Nnanna Ujor, 51; Chika Sampson Nwozaku, 48; Nnanna Ujor Chinasa, 45; Nnanna Fountain; Nnanna Abundant Ifechukwu; and three NSCDC personnel—Tesie Victor Nnamdi, Okwuruinya Uchenna and Obaji Sampson.
In a separate operation aimed at protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, NSCDC operatives arrested six suspected vandals on July 25, 2026, at Sabon Wuse while transporting a trailer-load of vandalised railway sleepers.
The stolen railway materials were concealed inside a blue DAF trailer with registration number ZAR 618 XT.
Similarly, operatives arrested two suspected vandals, Raphael Danjuma and Isaac Zegbe, from Toto and Basa Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State, for allegedly vandalising electrical installations and cables in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
The Corps stressed that the misconduct of the affected officers does not represent the values and professionalism of the majority of NSCDC personnel nationwide.
It added that all suspects and sanctioned personnel remain entitled to due process as administrative and judicial proceedings continue.
The NSCDC also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible intelligence to support efforts to protect national security and critical infrastructure.
