Stakeholders in Anambra State have commenced the renovation of the Anambra State Police Command Headquarters in Awka as a mark of appreciation following the promotion and decoration of Commissioner of Police, AIG Ikioye Orutugu, as an Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
The Anambra State Police Command said the facelift is part of the goodwill and support it has continued to receive from stakeholders in recognition of the achievements recorded under Orutugu’s leadership.
According to the Command, the gesture reflects public appreciation for its commitment to professional policing, improved public safety and strengthened police-community relations across the state.
The Command noted that the initiative also demonstrates the growing confidence of residents in the Nigeria Police Force and underscores the importance of sustained collaboration between the police and critical stakeholders in promoting security and development.
Reacting to the development, the Command expressed gratitude to the stakeholders for what it described as a significant show of support.
It said the renovation would further motivate officers and men to sustain ongoing reforms, strengthen operational effectiveness and improve service delivery.
The Police Command also reaffirmed its commitment to consolidating existing security gains, deepening community policing initiatives and ensuring the protection of lives and property across Anambra State.
It appealed to residents to continue supporting the police with credible and timely information to enhance ongoing efforts at preventing and combating crime.
